Inter-Agency Practice and Support Groups
What are these groups?
Local practice based groups for all
professionals and volunteers who work
with children and their families/carers
-
North West Leeds
-
North East Leed
-
East Leeds
-
West Leeds
-
South Leeds
They were established in recognition
that people who work in the same area
will have a number of common needs and
interests. Each group meets 3 to 4 times
a year.
What is their purpose?
People who work in the same area need
to know how to build understanding of
one another. They need to work collectively
to identify good practice and the conditions
that support it, and they need to unpick
difficulties together when they arise.
What are the groups’ objectives?
Although each group has developed its
own style and identity they share the
same objectives.
-
To proactively make links within
their local inter-agency community,
reaching out to professionals to supplement
more
traditional forms of inter-agency training.
-
To
act as a link with the ACPC via the
Local Child Protection Committees,
and to discuss the impact of policy
on practice and identify areas of practice
concern which requires attention.
-
To
provide a safe and open forum for
professionals to discuss local issues
and foster activities that promote
effective
inter-agency working relationships.
How are they supported?
Through the LCPC, central Child Protection
staff and two facilitators for each group
drawn from different agencies.
What activities have they supported?
An example of the activities of the
groups:
-
Presentations by various professionals
-
Discussions
on topics such as thresholds of harm,
domestic violence
and its impact on children
-
Case discussions
How do I get involved?
Any professionals can get further information
by contacting your local Local Child
Protection Committee representative.
