LTHT offers arrange of training (via E-learning and taught sessions) on issues regarding safeguarding children. Also, the Nursing team provide child protection supervision on a regular basis. Group and individual supervision take place either on the wards or within the Safeguarding Children Nursing Department.
LTHT staff are involved with many of the most serious child protection cases in the city, either because children suffer harm serious enough to necessitate hospital admission or because of risk identified pre-birth. Many of these cases result in legal intervention by the Police and Social Services.
Increasing numbers of LTHT staff have been asked to attend Court as witnesses in both civil and criminal proceedings.
LTHT supports the notion that “Safeguarding Children” is everyone’s responsibility, wherever children are in the Trust.
