Professional Practice Sub Group
Terms of Reference
On behalf of ACPC to:
Develop and implement actions in the
annual Business Plan and produce an
annual report on progress to ACPC;
Develop and maintain local interagency
procedures in line with national guidelines;
Respond to and make recommendations
regarding practice issues raised through
Local Child Protection Committees and
other ACPC Sub Groups;
Undertake specific tasks within the
above remit at the discretion of ACPC;
Liaise and work with other Sub Groups
as appropriate;
Report to ACPC on a quarterly basis. “Issues
arising from ACPC” to be a standing
item on the agenda and issues to be highlighted
at ACPC to be agreed at each meeting.
Membership
It was agreed that the core membership
should be based on multi-agency representation.
The group totals a core membership of
ten. Quorum was agreed as representatives
from three separate agencies.

Co-ordinator, Leeds Social Services Department,
Merrion House, 110 Merrion Centre, Leeds

Structure
The Professional Practice Sub Group
will meet quarterly on a planned basis
though additional meetings may be arranged.
The Chair will be appointed from members
of the Group and be a full member of
ACPC. Nominations will be received from
the Group and ratified by ACPC. The Chair
will be reviewed after two years.
The Senior Child Protection Co-ordinator,
Social Services, will be the formal link
between Local Child Protection Committees
and the Professional Practice Sub Group.
Part of that role is to identify key
issues to be passed on to and from other
Sub Groups and the LCPCs through the
Chairs’ Meeting.
