Basic Awareness of Child Abuse and Neglect E-Learning Package

Leeds Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) has signed up to an innovative way of child protection training via the Internet, to enhance the learning process for those individuals and organisations who work with children and young people. Provided through Virtual College this approach provides a flexible delivery route for various levels and subjects for Safeguarding Children training and learning.
The courses are ideal for everyone who comes into contact with children, young people, their parents or carers through work in either the statutory or voluntary sector and are endorsed by LSCB and are in line with the training strategy. This course can be used instead of the Raising Awareness in Child Protection course as a precursor to the Introduction to Working Together training and is aimed primarily at Independent voluntary and community (Third Sector) organisations which can not access this training through their own organisations.
This module has been divided into two components. Both components cover similar material but the Core Introduction gives a more in-depth learning, for people who have a higher level of contact with children, young people and their families.

Awareness of Child Abuse & Neglect - Short Foundation
The Short Foundation course can be taken to demonstrate evidence of undertaking an introduction prior to attendance at Introduction to Working Together training. The average time taken for completion is approx 60-90 minutes, which can be broken down to suit your other commitments and time constraints.

Awareness of Child Abuse & Neglect - Core Introduction
The Core Introduction course can be taken to demonstrate evidence of undertaking an introduction prior to attendance at Introduction to Working Together training. The average time taken for completion is approx 60-120 minutes, which can be broken down to suit your other commitments and time constraints.
Both courses cover similar material but the Core Introduction deals with this in more depth as appropriate for the increased level of contact staff will have with children and their families
NB: It is not necessary to undertake the Short Foundation course before the Core Introduction.
